On Sunday, May 27, join the 15th annual Walk for Alzheimer’s in one of the 15 communities across the province. www.walkforalzheimers.ca
As one of the provinces with the largest percentage of people 65 and older, New Brunswick is faced with a difficult challenge - to support the ever increasing number of people affected by dementia. Today, 15,000 New Brunswickers are living with Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia – 14% of which are below the age of 65. As this number steadily increases, so does the demand for free programs, support, research, education and awareness in every community in New Brunswick. But we can’t do it alone.
Last year, your contribution helped the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick to fund $84,523 towards research, to deliver 55 free presentations to 19 communities throughout the province, and to offer direct support to 777 New Brunswick families and caregivers. This year, we expect those numbers to be substantially higher, which is why we are asking for you to help us grow this event.
This year, take action!
Spread the word: share our posts, hang posters in your community and tell others
Register as a walker: sign up online or contact our office for a pledge form, and bring a friend
Gather friends and family: sign up as a team captain and gather friends, family and colleagues
Get your business involved: link our walk page on your website, send an email to coworkers or host a raffle
Host a Walk in your community: we provide information, support and materials
Volunteer on a committee: we are in need of volunteers to help organize and host walks throughout the province
If you are unable to attend a walk on May 27th, there are still ways you can help! Hold a fundraising event and donate the proceeds to a Walk nearest you or make a donation! Simply go online to www.walkforalzheimers.ca to find a walk nearest you!
